Captain
Mike Manning is a full time professional Florida fishing guide who was born,
raised, and lives his adulthood in Pasco County, Florida. His life long passion
for fishing lead him to evolve into a flats, inshore, backcountry, and nearshore
fishing guide many years ago. He is on the water over 250 days a year.
Capt. Mike is well known
and respected by his peers, the industry, the community and within his strong
client base. He has been featured on several television fishing shows, newspaper
articles, and is a featured guide writer for the St. Petersburg Times.
Capt. Mike serves as a field consultant
for Mercury Outboards, Andros Boats, GLoomis fishing rods, Berkley
Fishing Line, Shimano Reels, Motor Guide Trolling Motors, MirrOlures, and 12
Fathom Jigs.
Capt. Mike is knowledgeable
and experienced in all aspects of fishing the Florida Gulf Coast has to offer.
Considered by many as an expert in everything from speckled seatrout to kingfish,
his lust in hunting bull redfish, trophy snook and giant tarpon are undeniable.
A specialist with light tackle (live bait, spin, plug and conventional) and
fly fishing, Capt. Mike has earned a reputation as one of the finest guides
on the Gulf Coast.
Capt. Mike runs an impeccably
kept Andros Cuda
23'. The boat
features a "tuna tower" for the advantage of spotting fish on the
shallow flats from great distances. The boat is powered by a "state of
the art" current year model, Mercury 225 OptiMax. The boat is specifically
and uniquely designed to fish the backwaters to the nearshore reefs of the Gulf
Coast. The "hi tech wonder" draws just inches of water, yet offers
a full transom and adequate freeboard to safely fish in most any condition.
A high thrust electric trolling motor is utilized in stalking wary tarpon and
a push poll is used to creep up on tailing fish in shallow water. She comfortably
and safely fishes 1 to 4 people. The boat is equipped beyond all Coast Guard
standards. A VHF radio and cellular telephone are always on board. For these
reasons, Capt. Mike's Andros Cuda 23' is one of the largest, most comfortable, safest,
and multifaceted guide boats on the Gulf Coast.
